- Nootropics. Just before starting writing session #1 Hunter takes a daily dose of Alpha Brain nootropic brain supplement. It further increases his mental clarity, focus and boosts his creativity.

- Standing desk. For each two hour writing session Hunter uses a standing desk. Standing instead of sitting allows for greater blood flow and more natural posture. Since he writes for 6 hours per day he only uses a standing desk.
Breakfast
- Balanced meal. Hunter sticks to a lower carb keto/paleo style diet. It keeps his mind sharp and his body firing on all cylinders. He cooks himself 5 eggs and has a full avocado on the side. To drink: a tall glass of ice cold mineral water flavored with the juice of half a lemon.
Weights Workout, Stretching and Protein Shake
- Functional lifting. Hunter lifts weights for 1.5 hours, 3 – 4 days per week. He mixes bodyweight exercises like pushups, pull-ups and knees-over-toes squats with traditional free weight exercises for chest, arms, shoulders, back and legs. He finishes each workout with 10 mins of core exercises. Hunter is in the top 1% of the top 1% of fitness for his age group. In the middle of his weights session Hunter has a high dose of creatine to boost his peak performance.

✍️ Hunter’s Words

An isolation float tank allows him to float freely in shallow water while completely isolated (sound, light, smell) from the outside world. It allows him to reach an altered state otherwise not possible.
Dreampod – Flotation Tank
Completely disconnect for deep relaxation and stress relief
✍️ Hunter’s Words
The sauna is no place for the weak—it’s a goddamn trial by fire. You sit in that inferno, sweat pouring, heart pounding, until every last toxin and ounce of weakness is burned out of you. Only then do you emerge, half-mad and reborn.
Writing Session #3
- 2-hours of deep writing. Hunter does 6-hours of deep, focused writing per day. Over the years he has experimented and he finds his best writing comes from splitting the 6-hours into 2-hour sessions. His 3rd writing session of the day is often his most productive as it immediately follows 2-hours of relaxation and recovery. This session he avoids coffee and sticks with electrolytes in filtered still ice cold water.
Journaling, Daily Reflection
- Goal setting. Hunter likes to reflect on each day just before dinner. He sets his goals for tomorrow and checks off his accomplishments for today. He does this writing by hand on a reMarkable notepad. It is a notepad that feels like a normal notepad but it is digital and saves your notes digitally.
Evening Routine
Dinner
- Balanced meal to end the day. Hunter has a healthy marriage and eats dinner each night with his wife. His wife usually cooks for him but he also likes to grill and prepare healthy foods. Most nights they will have fish or beef with sweet potato and steamed vegetables. He enjoys a single glass of wine each evening for its health benefits in aiding digestion.
- Conversation. Thompson spends much of his day in deep focus writing so he loves talking to his wife about her day and any other topics that come up.

- Reading fiction with his Kindle on dark mode. Hunter is a voracious speed reader and can finish a typical 200-page book in 2-hours. He reads fiction at nighttime because it promotes relaxation and enhances imagination and creativity. He will get about 40 mins of reading in each night and finishes about 2 books per week. Even though he uses his Kindle in dark mode he still uses blue light glasses to ensure minimal negative impact on sleep. He also takes a melatonin tablet before he starts reading to enhance his sleep quality.
Momentous – Elite Sleep Supplement
Contains melatonin, L-theanine, tart cherry & valerian root extract

Soundcore – Sleep Headphones

✍️ Hunter’s Words
